History of Guerilla Bass Records
Guerilla Bass Records was founded in 2018 by Rafael Hermans during his time in Canada. What began as a personal experiment soon evolved into a full-fledged label rooted in underground culture, community resistance, and the raw need to express reality through sound.
From the very beginning, Guerilla Bass has focused on releasing music that is deep, weighty, and militant. Tracks grounded in jungle, breakbeat, UK hardcore, and electro. Not polished for mass appeal, but built to move bodies and minds alike. Since its launch, the label has released a number of digital records and one vinyl release.
Guerilla Bass is more than a label. It is a collective that lives the DIY ethos and is closely connected to the Dutch squatting movement. This link to autonomous culture, anti-commercial values, and a refusal to conform shapes everything we do. From the sound itself to the way we work together.
In a scene where too much feels safe, overproduced, and disconnected, Guerilla Bass is a response. We don’t sell fantasies. We create music that mirrors the world as it is. Raw, tense, sometimes dark, but always honest. This isn’t just about hard drums. It’s about depth, intention, and sound as expression.
From the start, we have maintained a global network of artists and promoters. We work closely with labels like Eastern Promise Audio, Next Phase Records, and Danger Chamber Recordings, forming strong alliances within the worldwide underground.
We also bring our energy to the dancefloor through Militant Beats, our recurring event series hosted in collaboration with Orion Visitors. These nights, primarily in Amsterdam and Wormerveer, are not about clout or algorithms. They are about presence, resistance, and release.
To further amplify the sound and spirit of the movement, we host a bi-weekly radio show on The Underground Lair, sharing selections, unreleased cuts, and guest mixes from the extended Guerilla Bass family.
Today, the label stands strong as a team effort. Artists like Jesh and Rayven Lux have played a key role in shaping the vision. Producers such as Toecracker, RAKC, MΛN, Phrenesis, Skaaz, Infest, Phuture-T, and Rikipicchi continue to define the sound. Their contributions reflect what the label is really about: building something raw, together.
Looking ahead, Guerilla Bass is set to grow its mission. More releases, more benefit parties, and more grassroots activities that go beyond the music. Plans are in motion to offer DJ and graffiti workshops for all ages, creating space for connection, expression, and cultural resistance. The sound will keep evolving, but the message remains the same. Honest. Raw. Rooted in community.
This is Guerilla Bass.
